A Solemn Gathering for Pope Francis

Vatican City: The funeral service for Pope Francis is currently taking place in the bustling St. Peter's Square.

The beloved Argentine pope passed away on Monday.

As dawn broke on Saturday, crowds of mourners began to fill the square. The sound of bells marked the beginning of the procession, which carried Francis's coffin from St. Peter's Basilica to the altar in the square.

Notable figures, including former US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, were seated on one side of the altar, while cardinals in red robes occupied the opposite side. This funeral signifies the commencement of a nine-day official mourning period at the Vatican.
